After successfully setting up a conglomerate of hotels, resorts, golf courses, and the like, what is left for any man to do? One idea is to make something that is helpful to a lot of people. When it comes to such an idea, Daniel Chavez Moran capitalized on it.
A man by the name of Daniel Jesus Chavez Moran decided to do something to help promote Latin culture to the world and this is why he formed a foundation called Grupo Vidanta. Latin America is not the only part of the world that is experiencing poverty and inequality these days and social issues like these are what the foundation concentrates on. Grupo Vidanta is the name of Mr. Moran’s resort development company that owns and operates tourist destinations and the Mar de Cortés International Airport in Mexico.
The company is Mexico’s leading tourist destination developer with 20 resorts and more than 10,000 employees. Its philanthropic arm, the Grupo Vidanta Foundation was established in 2005. It was first called Grupo Mayan Foundation.
The foundation elected Roberto Russell as the chief operations officer and together with a handful of committed employees, they are educating people about the ongoing social crises in their part of the world. Aside from political concerns, they also discuss social affairs with the communities that they reach out to. As a result, a huge portion of Mexico and the rest of the subcontinent are deep in poverty and suffering from much inequality.
The thing about Grupo Vidanta is that they are focused on mending ties between different Latin American nations. The foundation wants the world to see how different Latin American nations, from Argentina to Mexico, can contribute to the resolution of these particular social conundrums that their people are facing on a daily basis. Thanks to the help of other countries, Haiti is now in the stage of rebuilding their fallen cities and this kind of support system is what the foundation is concentrating on.
Basically, Grupo Vidanta wants Latin America to be assimilated with other countries, plain and simple. When it comes to what Latin America can provide, the possibilities are endless to say the least. Latin American countries and people are some of the friendliest, outgoing, religious, festive and fun-loving people in the world, and the rest of the globe can learn from that.
When it comes to the foundation, they want to influence politics into building up their democracy. It actively initiates activities that are focused on fighting poverty and inequality. The main focus of this foundation is actually the economic and social development of all Latin American regions.
One of the many activities that the foundation is engaged in is the distribution of books and scholarly research. Most of the titles have a link not only to economic betterment but democratic aspects as well. Some of the books already produced are “Balance del Siglo”, “Entre la Frustración y la Esperanza”, and “Falling Behind: Explaining the Development Gap between the United States and Latin America”.
The Foundation also creates programs that could engage educators, economists and political leaders from all over the world. Here, there are a lot of programs dedicated to sustainable economic growth where conferences and the like are held. Other projects that serve to contradict poverty and inequality are also supported by the Grupo Vidanta foundation.
There are a lot of improvements on the social condition of the subcontinent thanks to the group that has only been working for the past 6 years. Grupo Vidanta will not stop until there is no more oppression. Everything the foundation does is a reflection of the man who made things possible, Daniel Chavez Moran.
